Pump Systems

Our air sampling pumps cover a range of applications from MDI testing at 28.3L/min to 90L/min testing of DPI. Performance is governed by flowrate and pressure drop and the pumps are engineered such that they can be run in parallel where high flowrates in conjunction with large pressure drops. The LVP-1 is suitable for applications flowrates up to 60L/min – pMDI, Nebuliser and Nasal Testing; the HVP-1 is a high volume-rated pump for all applications but particularly DPI testing, up to 100L/min dependant on pressure drop.

The requirements of the various pharmacopoeias for flow control clearly define the need for high quality vacuum systems. Westech supply enclosed rotary vane vacuum pumps to perform this function.

    Vacuum Pump for Inhaler Testing

The VP 1000 Vacuum Pump used for testing MDI’s and DPI’s employs a Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump rated at 250 litres/ min. free air (210 Litres/min. when used with the control valve). The unit is supplied complete with an Electronic Digital Flow Meter as standard.
The air-flow is controlled by means of the screw valve on the front of the pump. The screw valve itself creates a restriction to the air flow such that the minimum flow rated achievable is approximately 210 litres/min.

High Flow Rate Pump for Inhaler Testing

The high resistance of some inhaler devices will not allow the standard pump (210lpm with control valve) to operate at the flow rates required by the Pharmacopoeia. The High Flowrate Pump will overcome this although for high resistance devices at the highest required flowrates (>/= 100lpm) two such pumps may need to used in series.
