The right angled design is often referred to as a throat. When attached to the top of the instruments inlet cone or Preseperator top, a gasket seal fit is established using O-rings, allowing aerosols to enter the impactor. Internally there should be a double tapper at the inlet reducing to a straight bore around the leak-free corner. A mouthpiece adapter can then be fitted to the port inlet holding an inhaler securely in place.
